Who we are

Born out of a desire to reach more people the Swim Free Project, an initiative of Aqua Veren, a registered Australian charity, is dedicated to democratising water safety and aquatic skills education. Recognising that many individuals may miss out on essential resources, our project creates engaging, factual, and innovative content tailored for diverse audiences. By providing access to high-quality materials, we aim to foster a love for water activities, elevate teaching standards, and cultivate safer communities. The Swim Free Project is committed to ensuring that everyone, regardless of background, can enjoy the water while prioritising safety and skills development. How we are making an impact…

  • “We kicked off our first event as a not for profit with a joint teacher professional development workshop”

    Teacher workshops and professional development opportunities can be hard to find for so many that are working day to day with students in the water. Most conferences are out of reach financially so we teamed up with Aquatic Education to deliver much need, affordable and practical PD to 24 teachers at UQ in late 2024.

  • “One of our reasons for creating AquaVeren was to share our love of water, because it is our happy place”

    ‘Laps for Life’ is an annual fundrasing swimathon run by ReachOut Australia to support their work with youth mental health. Having an ability to get in that water and swim laps, do some deep aqua or just float is such as good way to find balance.

    Partnering with Laps For Life in 2025 will be the first of many that we have planned.

  • “Free programs to make water safety and aquatic skills more accessible is a core part of what we are working towards and we are well on our way to have our fist program aimed at Adults out soon.”

    Working with the incredible Marcelle we are taking her ‘Freedom From Fear’ adult swimming program and making a free and easily accessible version for all those big kids that have never had an opportunity to develop aquatic skills to get started.

  • “The Pho3nix foundation and Swimming Australia are advocates of youth sport”

    During the 2025 Australia Swimming Nationals we were able to support one of their youth clinics at the Brisbane Aquatic Centre.
